On-site Opportunities
The schools we work with are often in various stages of familiarity with
our work. For that reason we provide a variety of 2, 3, or 4 day institute
options. For institutes we charge a flat, comprehensive, per diem, per
participant, rate that includes the cost of all institute materials and
travel: $200 per participant per day, minimum of 30 participants.
- Introductory 2-day institutes provide a deepening
of content knowledge, visions of math workshop, experience crafting
and doing minilessons, an introduction and overview of our curriculum
units, and an examination of children and teachers at work in our exemplary
classrooms via our digital environments. This 2-day institute can span
all four operations with whole and rational numbers making it appropriate
for K-8 teachers, or it can be grade span specific, such as K-3 (addition
and subtraction), or 3-5 (multiplication and division), or 4-8 (fractions,
decimals and percents).
- The 3-day Landscape of Learning intermediate series
is designed for math curriculum coordinators, coaches, or teachers with
some familiarity with our work. The intent of the institute is to construct
with participants, and explore in-depth, a developmental trajectory
of the big ideas, strategies, models, and related teaching resources
specific to a topic and grade span, for example multiplication and division,
grades 3-5.
- 2-day Learn to Lead Seminars. This option
is for math curriculum coordinators and coaches who want to be able
to lead workshops with our materials. It prepares math leaders to lead
internet study groups in their districts.
- 4-5 day combination institutes provide school systems
with a way to craft a mixture of the above institutes, and/or to provide
a 4-day institute for teachers in two different grade spans to help
them understand what comes before and after their own.
- Staff developers are available for
on-site, in-class work with groups of teachers as follow-up on a contract
basis for a certain number of days. Rates vary depending on the staff
developer, but usually range from $1200 to $3000 per day, plus travel.
